Following remarks by Albania's Prime Minister Edi Rama on the 7 April 2015 concerning the prospects of an unification of his country with Kosovo, the European Union's foreign service referred to them as unacceptable in the context of both territories' hopes of joining the EU. Serbian authorities were also unpleased with the statements, considering that they would further contribute to instability in the region. These meditations came in the context of Kosovo’s visa liberalisation issue. Mr Rama had hinted borders in the Balkans might once more be redrawn, should the EU continue to refuse extending a visa-free regime to Kosovans. |
