French PM goes all-in to push liberalisation bill through

French Prime Minister Manuel Valls de facto decided to turn a vote on the flagship liberalisation bill tabled by Economy Minister Emmanuel Macron into a confidence vote in February 2015. The decision confirmed that the Socialist Prime Minister was struggling to rally his party behind important economic reforms.

In the event France's Socialist government survived the parliamentary confidence vote on the 19 February 2015 over the controversial set of labour market reforms.

In a message to Socialist Party rebels Prime Minister Manuel Valls vowed: 'We won't stop reforming' France.
