Germany said on the 12 February 2015 that it planned to send a number of police officers to join efforts to stem a tide of migrants from Kosovo trying to enter the EU via Serbia and Hungary. The exodus was posing problems for both Germany and Kosovo. The moves came amid increasing concerns in the German government about the growing number of Kosovars seeking asylum in Germany. The number of Kosovars applying for asylum jumped to 3,330 in January 2015 - an increase of 85% from December 2014. More than 18,000 Kosovars had entered Germany since 1 January 2015. |
