EurActiv reported in November 2014 on the ongoing saga as to whether the new European Commission, 2014-2019 under Jean-Claude Juncker would maintain the post of Chief Scientific Advisor within the Bureau of European Policy Advisers.

Business and scientific interests were said to support the continuation of the post, but transparency campaigners wanted its abolition. Anne Glover, the CSA, told sources on the 13 November 2014 that the post would not continue after her mandate came to an end in early 2015.
