Press Release: EU sanctions against Syrian regime strengthened

As the Assad regime continued its brutal war against its own people, the Council reinforced on the 20 October 2014 EU restrictive measures against the Syrian regime.

Fourteen persons had been targeted over their responsibility for the violent repression of the civilian population. Two more persons and two entities providing practical support to the Syrian regime would also be subject to the restrictions, which consisted in an asset freeze and, for the individuals listed, a travel ban.
