The EU and Jordan had officially established a Mobility Partnership on the 9 October 2014. EU Commissioner for Home Affairs, Cecilia Malmström, Jordan's Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, and the Ministers responsible for migration from the twelve EU Member States participating in this partnership (Cyprus, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden) signed a Joint Declaration establishing a framework for future cooperation in the field of migration and mobility. Through this partnership the EU and Jordan agreed to ensure that the movement of persons was managed as effectively as possible, allowing for concrete actions to further improve the situation in the way migration, asylum and borders were dealt with. Strengthening efforts to derive all the potential benefits from migration and linking them to development has been a key feature of the Partnership. |
