The European Commission decided on 25 September 2014 to take action against Spain before the European Court of Justice because 20 Spanish ports had yet to adopt and implement the port security plan. The deadline for transposing the Directive 2005/65/EC was in June 2007, while the EC regularly carried out port security inspections in order to verify that its application was monitored. An Action Plan was set out by Spain's authorities but its deadline in 2013 was not met. |
