EU antitrust probe blocks work on Real Madrid stadium

El País and other news sources reported that Madrid’s regional High Court had put Real Madrid soccer club’s plans to remodel its Santiago Bernabéu stadium in the centre of the capital on hold as a precaution in response to a petition from an environmental group, asking for the scheme be halted while the club (and other Spanish football clubs) was under investigation by the European Commission to establish whether they received illegal state aid.
