The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) imposed a ban on US carriers flying to Tel Aviv, on the 22 July 2014, after a rocket fired from the Gaza strip landed about a mile from the Ben Gurion International Airport.

On the same day, the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) followed the line, strongly recommending that airlines should avoid operating to and from the Israeli city.

Two days later, while the FAA lifted its ban, the EASA stated that airlines and national authorities should make their own decisions, based on the risks involved.
