Where does Europe stand after the European Parliament elections in May 2014? What are the great policy challenges going forward? And what areas should a social policy agenda for the next five years prioritise? These are the questions that Social Europe Journal asked leading academic Peter Hall of Harvard University.

This feature forms part of a new programme called Social Europe 2019. Social Europe Journal, the Hans-Böckler-Stiftung and the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung will run this new project setting out a fresh social policy agenda for the five years 2014-2019. 'Social Europe 2019' will bring together leading experts and decision-makers to discuss relevant issues and also include the views and concerns of citizens from across Europe.
