The European Commission announced on the 10 July 2014 that it would be taking Spain to the European Court of Justice for two (unrelated) breaches of environment legislation. The first concerned poor waste management: despite earlier warnings from the Commission, numerous Spanish landfills were still operating in breach of EU landfill legislation. The second case concerned a planned rail link between Seville and Almeria, for which no adequate environmental impact assessment was carried out. |
