Summary: The countries covered by the European Union's Danube Region Strategy gathered on 26 June 2014 for the third annual Danube Forum. A special focus was given to competitiveness, social inclusion and good governance, following a report from the European Commission calling for stronger political leadership of the macro-regions. Following recommendations in the governance report, the Danube countries' foreign affairs ministers agreed to meet alongside the Forum to propose concrete arrangements for a better managed leadership of the Strategy. A novelty at this year's Forum was the 'Danube Cosmos' – a series of activities (including workshops, coaching zones, stands, speakers' corners etc.) presenting initiatives and projects, on a wide range of topics covering all the priorities of the Strategy. |
