In the continuing campaigning in advance of the September 2014 referendum on the future status of Scotland within the United Kingdom, competing claims about the costs and benefits of Scottish independence were set out to voters by the UK and Scottish governments on the 28 May 2014. The Scottish government said everyone in Scotland would be £1,000 better off a year. However, ministers from the United Kingdom said that people would benefit from staying in the Union by £1,400 per person, per year. |
