A UN report on Ukraine published in May 2014 showed a deterioration in the human rights situation in the east of the country, as well as serious problems emerging in Crimea, especially in relation to the Crimean Tatars. United Nations monitors in the south east said the incidents of targeted killings were on the rise and cases of abduction and torture reported. Noted in this record is also a separate OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) and the OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) report from the joint Human Rights Assessment Mission the two institutions sent to Ukraine in early March 2014. |
