The Guardian reported on the 28 April 2014 that United Kingdom Prime Minister David Cameron had said in a new pledge that he would not go into another coalition without the other party signing up to an EU referendum by the end of 2017. The prime minister made it clear that an in-out referendum would be a condition of any future partnership with the Liberal Democrats or another minority party. Nick Clegg, leader of the Mr. Cameron's coalition partner, stated on the 9 May 2014 that plans to renegotiate Britain's ties with the European Union were wishful thinking and likely to yield only minor concessions that would not unite his governing Conservative party. |
