The European Commission adopted on the 11 March 2014 the first package of delegated acts for the reform of the Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) aiming at making the CAP fairer, greener and more targeted. Those texts supplement the four basic acts adopted on 13 December 2013 by the European Parliament and the Council for the reform of the CAP. This Blog discusses the significance of the proposed delegated acts and the difficult negotiations still expected over the details, especially between interests campaigning for stricter environmental rules and those worried about increased costs. The Agriculture Committee of the European Parliament met on the 7 April 2014 to consider the next steps. |
