Statement: Statement by Commissioner Šemeta on Savings Tax Directive

On the 11 March 2014, the European Commissioner Šemeta spoke at ECOFIN about the EU Savings Tax Directive and said it was a constructive discussion. It proved that all Member States are now behind greater tax transparency.

Despite the progress, the commissioner added that it was again disappointing that they could not get political agreement on this file but it is clear that we they very near the finishing line.
