Press Release: More efficient rules for the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a member state

The permanent representatives of the member states on 26 February 2014 endorsed the informal agreement reached on 18 February 2014 between the Council of the European Union and the European Parliament representatives on the proposal for a directive on the return of cultural objects unlawfully removed from the territory of a member state.

The new proposal aims to improve the efficiency of the mechanisms to secure the return of cultural objects classified as national treasures.
