EU turns to Iran as alternative to Russian gas

As the relations between EU and Russia got colder, EurActiv echoed a Reuters report on the growing urgency of a plan to import gas from Iran.

According to sources in the European Commission, there have been preparations to improve the gas connection between the EU and Iran, as Iranians were seen as a top priority to tackle the dependency situation regarding Russian gas.

However, such plan would still depend on the removal of the ongoing sanctions and the addition of some pipeline infrastructures.
