Press Release: EU and UN mobilise half a billion dollars to save lives in Central African Republic

496 billion dollars was pledged at a high-level meeting on the humanitarian crisis in the Central African Republic on 20 January 2014, as donors rallied to help the stricken country in response to a dramatically deteriorating situation.

The meeting, organised in Brussels on 20 January 2014 by the European Commission and the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, heard pledges of support from the European Commission, EU Member States and other international donors including the United States of America, the World Bank and the African Development Bank.
