Berlin would rather not have a British in/out question added to its already packed EU agenda. While David Cameron’s speech in January 2013 did resonate with some in the German political arena, the attitude so far has been one of 'let’s cross that bridge when we come to it'. Note, this article is part of a series which looks at the attitudes in various EU and external countries to the prospect of the UK leaving the European Union. There are articles relating to attitudes in Canada, France, Poland and the United States (see "related urls' below). [A separate record created in July 2014 outlines the views of other countries - Japan, Greece, Finland and Spain etc, to the implications of a UK withdrawal from the EU - see related url hyperlink below] The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) is Germany’s network for foreign policy. As an independent, non-partisan, and nonprofit membership organization, think tank, and publisher the DGAP has been promoting public debate on foreign policy in Germany for over 50 years. The DGAP publishes the foreign policy magazine IP. The IP appears in German as a bimonthly print magazine and in English as an online magazine for German and European foreign policy. IP Journal is the source for a German perspective on important foreign affairs issues, as well as in-depth analysis on central questions of German and European foreign policy from renowned authors and experts in and outside of Germany. |
