Text of a speech by Štefan Füle, European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighbourhood Policy about the 2012 progress report on Iceland and post-election perspectives, European Parliament, 15 January 2014.

Füle emphasised that the European Union remains fully committed to continuing and completing the accession negotiation process, if Iceland wishes to do so.

In May 2013, Iceland's new coalition government put on hold the accession talks with the EU, opened in June 2010. It dissolved the country's EU Negotiation Committee and announced that an assessment of the negotiations would be submitted to the Parliament
