The European Parliament's plenary session adopted on 18 April 2018 a Resolution regarding the appointment of the Secretary-General of the European Commission. The document calls for the reassessment of the procedure for apointing Martin Selmayr.

Mr Selmayr was appointed in February 2018 by the College of Commissioners following proposal from the President of the European Commission. This matter was subject to discussion at the Parliament on 12 March and a hearing took place some weeks later.
