On 18 December 2013 the European Commission found that public funding of €93 million for the purchase of long-distance passenger rolling stock by the Polish passenger rail operator PKP Intercity is in line with EU state aid rules. The project is aimed at increasing passenger transport by rail. It should also contribute to improving the country's territorial cohesion and the accessibility of individual regions. The Commission has found that this project will further EU cohesion and transport objectives without unduly distorting competition. |
