The Lithuanian Presidency on 19 December 2013 informed the European Parliament that, on 18 December, the member states' Permanent Representatives endorsed the compromise reached between the Council and the Parliament concerning updated rules on periodic roadworthiness tests for motor vehicles, roadside inspections of commercial vehicles and vehicle registration documents (roadworthiness package).

The co-legislators agreed that all three acts would be directives, instead of being two regulations and one directive.

The agreed texts still need to be formally approved by the Parliament, whose vote in plenary is expected to take place in spring 2014, and by the Council, which is due to take its decision after the vote in Parliament.
