EurActiv reported on the recommendations of the joint European Parliament and European Commission working group on the transparency register announced on the 13 December 2013.

The inter-institutional agreement which established the Register included a review clause. The review process started in June 2013. EP Vice-President Wieland and Commission Vice-President Šefčovič and others took part in the inter-institutional working group.

The review focused on issues such as the mandatory or voluntary nature of the register, the monitoring process as well as technical improvements.

EurActiv headlined that the working group had called for making registration for lobby organisations mandatory by 2017.
