Shoppers across Europe can count on a new set of consumer rights: the 13 December 2013 marked the deadline for Member States to introduce the European Union’s Consumer Rights Directive into national law.

The EU legislation will strengthen consumers' rights in all 28 EU countries, particularly when shopping online. The new rules will for example ensure an EU-wide withdrawal period of 14 days meaning that consumers can return goods for whatever reason if they change their minds.
