The Permanent Representatives Committee on 11 December 2013 endorsed the provisional agreement reached between the Lithuanian Presidency of the Council and the European Parliament representatives on access to genetic resources and the fair and equitable sharing of benefits arising from their utilisation in the European Union. The regulation is aimed at establishing a framework governing compliance with access to genetic resources and benefit-sharing in accordance with the Nagoya Protocol. Its implementation will also contribute to the conservation of biological diversity and the sustainable use of its components. |
