Press Release: Statement by the Spokesperson of High Representative Catherine Ashton on the new NGO law in Egypt

Catherine Ashton, High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice President of the Commission on 2 June 2013 reiterated the EU's firm commitment to supporting civil society in Egypt, which has a crucial role to play in the ongoing transition towards democracy.

The EU engaged with the government and provided technical advice to the authorities in the process of drafting a new law on associations, the NGO Law.
