The falling number of British diplomats working in the upper echelons of EU institutions risks limiting the country's influence, Members of Parliament warned in a report published in July 2013.

The House of Commons Foreign Affairs Committee said there was a 'generation gap' with senior UK officials retiring and not being replaced in the same numbers.
