Lawmakers were unsatisfied by the "vague" answers given by Croatia's commissioner candidate Neven Mimica, after a three-hour grilling in the European Parliament on the 4 June 2013. Mimica kept his answers to MEPs questions’ brief and often noncommittal, saying he would sit down with the parliamentarians at a later date to hash out policy details. However, Neven Mimica has received the backing from the European Parliament on the 12 June 2013, paving the way for him to become Croatia's first commissioner. Parliament also agreed that 11 present EU member countries would lose a seat each, and Germany three, to make room for the 15 new Croatian deputies. |
