Article reported that Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s prime minister, had clashed with the head of the country’s biggest business confederation in September 2012 in a dispute over fatal accidents, secrecy and the nation’s system of government. The spat, over two tragedies in which dozens of people died, had lead Mr Erdogan to suggest that dark forces were seeking to destabilise the government, while Umit Boyner, head of the Tusiad business confederation, called for much greater openness by the state. |
