EU slams U.S. for backing away from climate goals

On 7 August 2012 the European Union and small island states criticised the United States for withdrawing from a United Nations' plan to reduce global warming to below 2 degrees Celsius.

Almost 200 governments were convinced to achieve this goal, which is one of the few agreed in international climate policy, even though Todd Stern, the United States climate envoy, disbelieved in the project realisation.
