On 6 August 2012 Britain's coalition government suffered its worst crisis because of the rebellion of the junior partner in the two-party administration. The reason for the rebellion was that the Conservatives gave up the plans to reform the House of Lords. Nick Clegg, the Deputy Prime Minister and the leader of the Liberal Democrats, said the coalition formed in 2010 had now entered new territory.
