Mobility of our best and brightest from a free movement of workers perspective

This article seeks to examine the eligiblity of European Union workers and their family members for grants offered by a Member State in order to pursue studies. To that end it provides an analysis of the rights that can be derived from EU law, addresses the issue of export of study grants and comments on some recent trends in the national legislation of the 27 Member States regarding study grants.

[The European Network on Free Movement of Workers within the European Union is coordinated by the University of Nijmegen's Centre for Migration Law (under the European Commission's supervision). It:

+ keeps track of legislation on free movement of workers and how it is applied
+ monitors how national courts interpret EU laws
+ raises awareness of the importance of free movement of workers as a fundamental right.
