Press Release: Commission proposes new EU plan to halt biodiversity loss

The European Commission on 22 May 2006 adopted a Communication, entitled 'Halting the loss of biodiversity by 2010 - and beyond. Sustaining ecosystem services for human well-being'. Setting out an ambitious policy approach to halting the loss of biodiversity it provided in particular an EU Action Plan which proposed concrete measures and outlined the responsibilities of EU institutions and Member States, respectively.
