Press Release: Internal Market: the Commission acts to ensure that European films are distributed in Catalonia

The European Commission has asked Spain to put an end to the discriminatory rules which prevent the distribution of non-Spanish films.

The Commission considers that the legislation in question, the Catalan Law on cinema, is incompatible with the EU rules on the free movement of services (Article 56 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union).
