Report on ‘Action plan for herbal medicines 2010-2011’

At the beginning of 2010, anticipating the end of the 7-year transition period for the Member States to implement provisions of Directive 2004/24/EC (30 April 2011) and considering the outcome of an internal audit of the HMPC activities of the Committee on Herbal Medicinal Products (HMPC) conducted in 2009, the European Medicines Agency Management Board adopted an ‘Action plan for herbal medicines 2010-2011’, which was also endorsed by Heads of Medicines Agencies in April 2010.

Whilst a number of initiatives remained open for further progress and have now been taken up in the HMPC work programme for 2012-2015, many of the objectives have been reached and this document reports on the status of all actions as anticipated in early 2010.
