EurActiv, and other news sources, reported that the European Commission gave defiant Chinese and Indian airlines one month from 15 May 2012 to report their carbon emissions after they failed to meet their deadline, expanding a transcontinental feud over the EU’s Emissions Trading System.

Subsequently, India threatened to ban European airlines from its airspace if the Commission sanctioned Indian carriers in the dispute.
