Press Release: Advocate General’s Opinion in Case C-12/11. Denise McDonagh v Ryanair Ltd

According to the Advocate General, Mr Bot, the air carrier must provide care to passengers whose flights have been cancelled because of extraordinary circumstances such as the closure of airspace following the eruption of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. EU law does not imply either release from, or temporal or monetary limitation of, the obligation to provide care to passengers (accommodation, meals, refreshments).
