EU bans Iranian oil despite military threats

Iran said that an oil embargo adopted by European Union foreign ministers on the 23 January 2012 over the country's nuclear programme was 'unfair' and 'doomed to fail'.

The sanctions banned all new oil contracts with Iran and froze the assets of Iran's central bank in the EU.
