Press Release: Recommendations on the future of the outermost regions and the single market

Integrating the Outermost Regions1 (OR) of the European Union into the single market by making better use of their assets with a view to attaining the objectives of the 2020 Strategy: this is the goal of a series of recommendations put forward by the former European Commissioner, Pedro Solbes, in a report presented to Michel Barnier, Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services.

According to the report, the specific characteristics common to these regions and their different situations are not always fully taken into account in European policies.
