Greeks told protests could derail bail-out

The head of Greece’s statistical agency lashed out against a wildcat strike by his employees in late September 2011, warning the protest could derail the approval by international lenders (IMF/EU/ECB) of the next tranche of the country’s bail-out loan.

Andreas Georgiou, chairman of Elstat (Hellenic Statistical Agency), told the Financial Times on the 30 Seprtember 2011 that he could not provide the figures needed to finalise the 2012 budget because of the walk-out.

Also reports of a meeting in Paris on the 30 September 2011 between Greek Prime Minister George Papandreou and French President Nicolas Sarkozy
