The Danish government is prepared to spend over DKK 10bn on creating growth in the Danish economy according to the 'Sustainable Growth' package presented on the 23 August 2011 by Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Conservative Leader Lars Barfoed.

According to the package, the government plans to bring forward public investment in infrastructure projects in particular.

Denmark became the first Nordic country to enter recession, registering a 0.5% drop in gross domestic product in the first quarter of 2011 as a banking crisis and a troubled real estate market lowered demand and damaged consumer confidence.
