This interactive tool shows how much the European Union spends in each EU Member State and on what. It also shows where the money comes from and how each Member State national budget has evolved compared to the EU one

The background to this new web tool is the negotiations to adopt the Multiannual Financial Framework for 2014 - 2020 in the EU.

The debate on future EU policies and their budgets has only just begun. On 8 June 2011 the European Parliament approved its position on the multi-annual budget for 2014-2020. Will there be new sources of income for the EU budget? Is the Union, in the midst of an economic crisis, ready to support its ambitious objectives as set out in the EU 2020 strategy? Will there be financial support for the new tasks included in the Lisbon Treaty? And if so, what will happen to the traditional policy areas like agriculture and regional policy? These and other questions will be addressed in the coming years, when EU Member States and the European Parliament have to agree on the EU's financial framework for 2014-2020. The European Commission issued its formal proposals on the 29 June 2011.
