Press Release: Conclusion of negotiations between the EU and Moldova on the protection of Geographical Indications

The European Union and Moldova have concluded negotiations on an agreement to protect their respective Geographical Indications (GIs). Through this agreement Moldova will ensure high level protection for more than 3,200 European GIs for food products, wines and spirits. Also aimed at promoting and fostering trade relations in agricultural products and foodstuffs originating in the territories of both Moldova and the European Union, the text of the agreement was initialled on 18 April 2011.
