2010 was a turbulent year for the European Union. The Lisbon Treaty has still not engendered the promised advances in European cooperation and influence. Rather, the euro crisis nearly tore the EU apart; rising powers were clearly ascendant in international debates; in-fighting persisted between member states on second order institutional questions; and indebted European governments drew back from foreign engagement. The main sections are: Into Lisbon’s second year / Richard Youngs |
