Commission alerted on Germany food contamination

Germany's agricultural ministry announced January 2011 that over 4,700 farms had been closed as a precaution after fears of dioxin contamination in animal feed. Nearly all of the closures were in Lower Saxony.

The European Commission was informed under the Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF).
