In 2009, Bulgaria and Romania showed the lowest levels of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) per inhabitant among EU Member States, at less than half the EU average. The Netherlands was 31% above that average, only surpassed by Luxembourg. Levels of Actual Individual Consumption (AIC) were somewhat more homogeneous, but still with very substantial differences across EU Member States. As in previous years, Denmark had the highest price levels in the EU.
