A European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) spokesman reported on the 18 January 2011 that the bank had initiated an investigation in July 2010 into the Russian directorate of the bank, whose members were employees not of the bank itself but of the Russian government. The investigation concluded there had been a suspected breach of the bank’s code of conduct, which was communicated to the Russian government. Russian and British police were investigating four Russian government officials assigned to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development following the internal investigation into allegations of bribe-taking. |
